I’ve spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours searching online for ways to make money. From finding creative and profitable side hustles and gigs, creating a passive income, and increasing my online revenue to filling my packets with cash, I visited and spent a lot of time on blogs in that niche that, presumably, could help me make all that possible.
Before getting the idea of starting my own blog in that niche, helping people make money online and avoid wasting their time on many services, platforms, and ways that are simply not profitable, I was a reader, just like you, looking for the best blogs and websites that provided tips and tricks for freelancers, job seekers, and people who wanted to work remotely.
The biggest issue for me was that many bloggers kept on writing about services, platforms, applications, and other ways that they promised would make me money – but only resulting in me wasting my time and understanding one critical thing: Most of those bloggers never actually tried those ways.
With that in mind, there are a few blogs that I love to read, even today, and many of them are filled with professional-written content by experts who spent lots of hours researching and publishing the best guides, tips, and tricks about remote work, job hunting, starting new side gigs and side hustles, investing, and saving like a boss. Those are the ones that I trust the most, but even so, before starting anything, always research first.
1. BrokePal

I know I know, Broke.. what now? Well, I can’t just avoid mentioning my own blog (the one that you’re currently at) on this list. BrokePal.com is an independent blog created by a freelance writer who’s currently based somewhere in Greece. Unlike many other similar websites that offer tips and guides on how to make money online, whether that’s by building your own company, starting a freelance job, or using money-making apps, at BrokePal.com you’ll only find content that is personally tested.
I’ve been sickened by all those content creators (eg: YouTubers, bloggers, podcasters, and influencers) that promise their audience that they can easily make money in various of ways, only to find yourself losing your time, energy, and potentially money for absolutely nothing. Been there, done that – and I want to change that.
This is not “Your ultimate guide to making money online”, “Make money fast”, or even “Get rich within days”. This is a blog created by me, a poor content creator who spent his last 16 years searching for the best ways to earn money, pay his rent, groceries, electricity bills, and all that comes in between in this frustrating and difficult life. From a guy who, for the most part of his life, chased a dream of traveling the world while working remotely, only to become stranded in a small city, with lots of anxiety and constantly trying to find a way to provide for his family.
2. NerdWallet

There are many reasons why I’m starting with NerdWallet.com. First and foremost, it was created by Tim Chen with a $800 budget after he found himself unemployed on a Christmas day, and it’s now worth over $500 million. There is an interview on CNBC that you can read about him and how he started NerdWallet.com, but basically, he has created a very handy and helpful blog that it’s all about making the right money moves.
From making smarter budgeting and saving moves to investing, making money online, starting your own company, working remotely, and finding profitable ideas, that’s just on their blog, but NerdWallet.com is more than that: People can create a free account (there’s also the NerdWallet+ membership) and find how they can start saving money in various ways, get cash rewards that can redeem, make smarter financial moves, and get direct access to experts.
I won’t say much, but I’d like to say one last thing: Visit the website, create an account, and you’ll find yourself in a conducive, handy, and well-designed place filled with useful information on how to start saving and making money.
3. Oberlo

Created back in 2015 by Andrius Slimas and acquired by Shopify on Apr 28, 2017, for the crazy amount of $20.6M, Oberlo.com is a website filled with ideas and ways to start building your wealth and creating a passive income. Mostly focused on how to start, manage, and promote a dropshipping online store, it has a fast and clean design that makes searching and reading easy and fun.
Although it has tons of articles about dropshipping, you’ll find many other great ideas and ways to make money, especially for those looking to work from home. At first glance, it’s a blog that helps e-commerce store owners, but if you look more at it, it’s more than that. Apart from the helpful content, Oberlo.com has its own integrated generators and calculators, including a business name generator, a slogan generator, a traffic calculator, and a profit margin calculator.
If you’re looking at starting your own dropshipping store in 2025, you can start with Oberlo.com. They have e-books, videos, and even podcast episodes to help you get started faster and easier than ever before, and they also include two Wikis to start with their most popular content.
4. Create And Go

Starting a blog shouldn’t be hard, costly, or time-consuming, but with so much going on behind the scenes, is understandable why someone may have a hard time starting. In 2025, blogging is now harder than ever, not because of the ways that you can start a new blog, as platforms and tools have been vastly improved nowadays, but because it’s hard to make money off of it.
Create and Go has been created to change that, with useful content for individuals and companies looking to start their own blogs, make them profitable, and, as they say, achieve freedom and take the opportunity to finally escape the 9-5 life that most of hate.
We’re here for the same reasons as you are. That desire for freedom and opportunity is what connects us all. The desire to escape the 9-5, the alarm clocks, and the rush hour traffic — the desire for something different.
Create and Go
The website provides everything you’ll need to make blogging your next new career, from starting your own blog, finding the best blogging tools and software, managing and promoting your content, choosing a good name and a profitable niche to even combining blogging with podcasting. Apart from their guides, they also provide courses, including one that’s all about creating a six-figure blog.
5. The New York Times

For as long as I can remember, The New York Times has been one of my favorite and most-visited websites. It’s prestigious, well-designed, known for its high-quality journalism, in-depth reporting, and comprehensive coverage, and a great place to explore new profitable ideas, get some of the best guides in the world, read stories, and so much more. I could go on and on describing The New York Times, but I believe it’s so popular that makes any introductions about it obsolete.
When it comes to guides and profitable ideas, you’ll find almost everything there is to know, from starting your own business, podcast, or blog, creating and managing content, starting as a freelancer, finding the best niches or the best remote jobs, being a freelancer, and so much more. It has a bit of everything, from financial, businesses, and profitably, to economy and markets. Unfortunately, one of my biggest problems with The New York Times’s website is its search results.
For example, even if you search for “how to start a podcast” or “how to start a blog”, their results will lack those articles, and it takes a lot of time to search through their own search field. Alternatively, I’m searching through Bing, and I’m using the command site:nytimes.com
to find anything that’s published from The New York Times about a specific topic. For example, search for site:nytimes.com how to make money
and you should only see results from this specific website (and maybe a YouTube video that has nothing to do with the site).
6. Medium

Medium.com is one of the most popular online publishing platforms in the world – and for all the good reasons. People can sign up for an account and either read what content creators write or start their own blogs. Premium members on Medium.com also get paid for their content, which makes it an even more a very attractive tool for many writers. It’s also designed for readers and writers alike, as it focuses completely on providing a minimalistic and straightforward interface, making it even greater for long reads.
Although on Medium you read from various writers, many of them amateurs trying to make a living or build an audience, there are numerous high-quality and well-written guides, ideas, and personal stories from failed or successful moves that made people rich. You can read about anything, as Medium.com has a vast community of people who constantly write and publish new articles, and there isn’t a niche-focused publishing platform.
Creating an account gives you the ability to follow only the writers that you care about the most, meaning that you can only follow those who write about entrepreneurship, making money online, maybe podcasting or blogging, or whatever it is that you want to turn to a profitable source of income. You can also interact with each person by leaving a comment, liking it, and even resharing it or saving it for later.
7. Well Kept Wallet

When I read a blog that’s all about investing, making money online, start saving, and mainly stopping your packets from being empty all the time, there’s nothing that I love more than reading about personal experiences. Those are the highest-quality tips that you can find, from people who actually managed to make it and started writing about it. This is why I love reading the WellKeptWallet.com, created back in 2010 by Deacon Hayes who, and I quote, successfully “paid off $52,000 of debt in only 18 months.”
The blog is filled with how-to articles on making money online, paying your debt, creating a budget, tips and tricks on saving and increasing your revenue, investing, and so much more. There’s also the Well Kept Wallet Podcast, which is pretty fun and enjoyable to listen to if you want to learn more about Hayes and how he paid off his debt. The podcast also features tons of interviews with interesting people who managed to make a living from their hobbies and paid off their debt.
Nowadays it’s not just Hayes, as WellKeptWallet.com has grown to a team of 16 people, including him. There is also a book called You Can Retire Early!, and it’s a guide to financial independence at any age. The book helps you develop a personalized retirement plan, maximize your income, understand opportunity costs, select the right investment vehicles, and stick to your plan.
8. Shopify’s Blog

In case you haven’t heard it in the past (which is very unlikely), Shopify has been one of the most popular all-in-one commerce platforms in the world, and it’s here to stay. Apart from giving e-commerce owners a platform from which they can start, run, and grow their online businesses, it’s a great solution for dropshippers and affiliate marketers alike. From a 5-people team in a coffee shop to now having over 10,000 employees across the world, and with millions of businesses powered by it, Shopify doesn’t play around.
Apart from providing a well-designed interface to managing your e-commerce store, Shopify has its own blog that teaches you how to make money online, how to run and manage your business and products, how digital marketing basically works, and it’s filled with guides, ideas, tips, and tricks that you’ll love. From finding an idea, starting up, managing it, monetizing it, and promoting it to the whole world, Shopify’s blog is a hidden gem that everyone should know about.
Browsing their “Featured topics” you’ll find tips and guides for everything funding, accounting, and insurance-related topics, how to find the right product and sell it, how to promote your e-commerce store, how to start your own business, and how to create a professional brand. You can also find many stories from entrepreneurs who have found success thanks to their Shopify websites.
I’ll keep updating this article with more blogs as I keep on searching and reading. I’m sure there are many bloggers who I haven’t still found out about, and who provide great and useful information and guides based on their own personal experiences. If you know such a blogger, site, or platform, don’t hesitate to recommend it in the comments sections down below.
